Shopping Trip - August 14th

Yeah, yeah, yeah I'm WAY behind!!! I have just posted all of my trips from the last two weeks if you would like to get caught up. My trip today took me to CVS, Walgreens, and Albertsons. Make sure to scan your CVS card at the coupon machine when you go this week. CVS is promising everyone at least one free item coupon. I ended up getting two!! My OOP was A LOT higher than it usually is, but that's because I bought makeup and quite a few vitamins (Nathan and I are trying to be a little healthier!) Here's what I got:

4 rolls of Bounty Paper Towel
5 bottles of Gatorade G-Fit 02 Perform
1 Caramello Bar (free CVS coupon)
2 2L bottles of Diet Pepsi
2 24-packs of Nestle Pure Life Water
2 bottles of Melatonin (60 ct)
2 bottles of Calcium (150 ct)
2 bottles of Vitamin C (100 ct)
2 Revlon Custom Creation Foundations
1 box of CVS brand Band-Aids (free CVS coupon)
1 box of Prilosec (14 ct - got a free CVS coupon for this in the mail)
4 packages of Cottonelle Moist Wipes (84 ct)
1 package of Cotton Squares (200 ct)

Total Shelf Cost: $155.28
Total OOP: $62.31
60% Savings

Like I said, this is a lot more than I usually spend, but I'm a happy camper considering all the high priced items that I got!

Shopping Trip - August 10th

Here's my Kroger stop for this week.

2 12-Packs of Cottonelle Bath Tissue
4 boxes of Minute Maid Frozen Lemonade Cups
1 package of Hormel Bacon (I could have gotten a much better deal on this, but Nathan decided he needed it while we're in the store. He doesn't quite understand the importance of planning for shopping trips yet. He'll get there!)
1 2L bottle of Diet 7-Up
1 bottle of Aussie Leave In Conditioner
3 jars of Oxy Astringent Pads
3 bottles of Oxy Spot Control

Total Shelf Cost: $67.76
Total OOP: $17.96
74% Savings

Shopping Trip - August 7th

You may notice that my shopping trips are getting smaller. That's not because the deals aren't out there. It's simply because I'm getting to the point where our stockpile is built up enough that I'm only getting things that I feel need to be replenished.

10 bottles of Lysol Wipes
2 Softsoap Refills
3 bottles of Softsoap Hand Soap
1 Highlighter (filler)

Total Shelf Cost: $50.47

I was so excited about the Lysol wipes (I need to get a life, I know!) They were on sale and when I went to get them I found they had bonus double packages for the sale price! They only had 4 on the shelf, but I'll take it!! Instead of getting 6 like I had planned, I walked out with 10!!!

Shopping Trip - August 3rd

I have started heading to the grocery store more and I feel like I'm just starting to get the hang of things. Hopefully I'll keep getting better and better so I can save on most of our food in addition to our toiletries.

5 bottles of Crest Toothpaste
12 bars of Ivory Soap
3 bars of Safeguard Soap

A Few More Stops....

Nathan and I are leaving on a 10 day vacation, so this will be my last shopping trip for a couple weeks. We didn't really need much food since we're leaving, so I picked up a few fun things and some necessities for our pup!

PetSmart:
2 5 lb. bags of Nutro Max Dog Food

Total Shelf Cost: $29.98
Total OOP: $10.80

Target:
2 8-packs of La Croix Sparkling Water
2 boxes of Kraft Veggie Mac & Cheese
4 outdoor cushions
1 full-size garden tiller
4 42-ct. containers of Cottonelle Wipes
2 packs of Oral-B Floss
1 2-pack of Sharpie Fine Tip Markers
1 10-pack of Pens
2 10-packs of Bic Pens

Total Shelf Cost: $91.46
Total OOP: $29.03

I printed off some great $7 off coupons for Bella's food. Since I can't just switch Bella's food whenever different types go on sale, I printed 4 of these coupons (I printed two and had my mom print two). Bella will be set on food for a while!! I also stopped at Target for a few things and wandered through their outdoor clearance section. I had been eyeing some pillows for our outdoor chairs the last time I was at Target, but they were only on clearance for $9.08 and I couldn't justify spending close to $40 on outdoor pillows. I went in today and they had 4 left in the color I wanted for $3.24 each!!! I ended up getting 4 for $0.03 less than it would have cost me to buy 1 at regular price!!! Happy Couponing!! I'll see you when we get back!!!

I consider it a successful weekend when I can walk away with my Sunday newspapers for less than full price! On another note, even if you don't coupon, I recommend you stop in at a Kroger and check out their makeup section. There are lots of goodies on clearance. All of the makeup I bought normally costs between $8-$10 each, but all were on clearance for less than $2.10 each. If you have coupons it makes it an even better deal! I stocked up on makeup for less than $10 and that's a great deal in my book!! I was a little disappointed at myself because Kroger also had select varieties of Kettle Chips on closeout this week for $1.39. With the $1/1 coupon (6/19 RP) they would have cost only $0.39, but the shelves were cleared by the time I got there this weekend. Oh well!!

It was a GREAT week at CVS, so I issued a challenge for myself. I wanted to see if I could go into CVS with just a $20 bill and walk out with lots of great stuff!! I was really, really close to being successful. I ended up spending $20.18 at CVS for the bulk of the items listed above (all that I got at Walgreens were the 3 Gatorade drinks, tomato sauce, and eggs). I split my purchases into 6 transactions and just rolled my ECBs that I earned into each subsequent transaction (which explains why I ended up with $0 in ECBs). By doing it this way, I was able to seriously reduce my OOP expenses. Walgreens had a sad little ad today, so I just used my RRs from last week to pick up a few good deals. Overall, it was another great week!!!

We have been traveling the last two weekends so I barely got this trip in! It was good that I did because all of my register rewards would have expired yesterday, which means I would have been throwing money in the trash can. There were a few things we needed in our house, so I added those in to the shopping trip even though they weren't on sale. I was also able to grab two newspapers with coupons that were free since I used my ECBs to pay for them! Those usually cost me $5, so I was very excited about that!! I think Kroger has another mini Mega Event starting up on Wednesday, so hopefully I'll be back with those deals later this week!!

Kroger Mega Event!

I experienced the Kroger Mega Event for the first time last night and it was amazing!! There were so many good deals out there! During the Kroger Mega Event you receive $5 off instantly by purchasing 10 participating items. That basically means that each of the items cost $0.50 less than the listed price. Here's a list of what I got!

4 bags of Quaker Rice Snacks
6 boxes of Ronzoni Pasta
2 packages of Kraft Singles
3 Reach Toothbrushes
2 tins of Blue Diamond Almonds
1 box of Cap'n Crunch
2 bags of Boulder Gluten Free BBQ Chips

8 cans of Nivea for Men Shaving Cream

I Heart Grocery Stores!!

As you know, I do most of my couponing at CVS and Walgreens simply because I've had a hard time finding amazing deals at grocery stores. That has now changed! I have come to the realization that the website I use does not do a very good job of posting grocery store matchups. Last week I discovered a new coupon matchup website that does an amazing job with their grocery store matchups and yesterday I put it to the test. I went to Kroger and here's what I got:

4 packs of Mentos Gum
5 Frozen Pizzas
5 Yakisoba Microwave Meals
4 2-Liter bottles of Sierra Mist
2 2-Liter bottles of Diet Pepsi
6 packages of Carefree Liners
3 rolls of Reach Floss
3 Reach Toothbrushes
6 Listerine PocketPacks

Total Shelf Cost: $39.41
Total OOP: $6.39
84% Savings

It was so easy and fun and I have grown to LOVE double/triple coupon policies! Sometimes I feel like couponing at CVS and Walgreens causes more stress than it's worth because you can have some high OOPs and spending money stresses me out even if I'm saving in the long run. This was completely stress free and incredibly simple! I can't wait until Wednesday's ad so I can try it again!!

I know it doesn't seem like the amount of items in the picture should be worth the total shelf cost, but I got many items this week that are usually around $10 a piece. Both of the razors retail for $10 and the refill cartridges are $9, so it was a great deal! I also found out when I was filling out my mail in rebate that I can buy two more Nexcare products and mail all of the UPCs in together for an $11 rebate. I'm going to head back to CVS a little later today to buy the other two packages.

I have taken a new approach at Walgreens. I now shop the conventional 'couponer way' and break my purchases up into multiple transactions. This way, I use most of the RRs that I get during that day's shopping trip. I had struggled with Walgreens recently because their RRs only last two weeks. Most of the RRs I was receiving were expiring. Now I'm a little more of a pain in the store, but at least I use all of the money I receive! Another tub is heading to the food pantry this week!!

Sorry I have been so behind with my postings. I have taken a couple weekends off due to poor sales at both CVS and Walgreens. I have been having lots of problems at Walgreens lately and I am considering no longer shopping there. I have found that they are much less accommodating to couponers than they are at CVS, not to mention a little rude. I have also come to the realization that their Register Rewards expire after only two weeks, which has become a problem for me. Anyway, I'll keep you posted on this front.

(Plus I have $10 in RRs left over from last weekend!)
Wow I wish every weekend went like this! The last couple weeks have been a real bummer, but my goodness did this week make up for it! The two Visine products alone usually cost around $13 (more than I paid for the whole trip) and they only cost me $1.49. I was traveling back from Arizona on Sunday, so I couldn't go shopping until Monday. Since I got out late lots of things were sold out so, believe it or not, it could have been even better! Here's to hoping that next week is just as good!

This trip was more expensive than I would like, but I hadn't built up a lot of Register Rewards. Now that I have those built up I'm hoping my cost at Walgreens will go down. I only paid $2.80 out of pocket at CVS this week since I had ECBs built up. If we cant get the out of pocket cost at Walgreens there then we'll be golden! Of course, the cost also has to do with the quality of deals available from week to week. I didn't shop January 30th because the deals weren't all that great.

On another topic, the first batch of coupon finds will be going to the Saint Vincent de Paul Food Pantry this week!! I bought a giant plastic bin to keep it all in and I couldn't fit all of the stuff!! Not bad for 3 shopping trips!! As always, thanks for your love and support and send me a message if you would like to send in coupons!

I expected this first trip to cost a little more out of pocket. Now that I have built up some ECBs and RRs, which can be spent like cash at CVS and Walgreens respectively, the total cost of the trips should go down significantly. These items were purchased at Albertsons, CVS, and Walgreens. They will be heading to the food pantry next week!!!

Welcome to Coupons With a Cause!!

Hello Friends!

Those of you that know me know that I get a kick out of couponing! Well, I have decided to take my little hobby to the next level. I have begun collecting as many coupons as possible so that I can Coupon With a Cause. Nathan and I have no use for a lot of the things I can get with my coupons nor do we have room to start any significant stockpile. I had slowed down my couponing for those reasons. Then I had a lightbulb moment one night. Why not donate my free and cheap finds to chairty?!? I have already made 2 couponing trips (I will post about those in a bit) and have a giant plastic tub full of food and toiletries to donate! I am partnering with the St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry here in Dallas as well as the St. Vincent de Paul organization to make sure these items get to those who can really use them. I am very excited for this venture and very eager to partner with YOU to make it happen! If you have any coupons that you are not using, send them my way! I'll come pick them up or I'll send some money for postage and you can mail them to me. I will update the blog each week with my haul. Thanks for your love and support!!
